Longchamp crosses the Grand Rue

The Challenge

Located at 53 Grand Rue in a magnificent building where it occupied 120 sq m, the Longchamp boutique had been on the lookout for a larger building for some time. However, one condition limited the transaction: Longchamp still had a lease so a tenant had to be found at the same time to take it over.

The Solution

We had to actively approach retailers seeking a 120 sq m location who also had a large enough budget to cover both the lease and transfer costs. The former Longchamp store is to be occupied by the well-known cosmetics retailer, Rituals, with its first city-centre store. Previously, Rituals’ only store in Luxembourg was in the La Belle Etoile shopping centre in Bertrange. The brand had been looking for a major high-street location for some time.

The Results

Longchamp opted for a 250 sq m store, which is still on the Grand Rue, but at number 50. This was the ‘soft’ move it had dreamt of as the new building is located directly opposite the old one. Longchamp had been keen to stay close to its previous location so as to avoid inconveniencing their existing customers. Cushman & Wakefield could not have found a better location.
