Cushman & Wakefield has just announced the appointment of Sebastien Bequet as head of the Luxembourg office.
"Luxembourg is a dynamic and entrepreneurial market with exciting prospects. In addition to an estimated GDP growth rate of 3.8% for 2017 (compared with 1.55% for the EU-27 area), weekly we note the arrival of new office occupants coming from all corners of the earth, ranging from large Asian banks, to US multinationals and European niche players. The retail sector is also doing very well by welcoming major brands that recognise Luxembourg's potential for development." says the new Country Head.
Many projects and prospects promise increased demand in terms of service for real estate consulting clients. Cushman & Wakefield therefore decided to appoint Sebastien Bequet as head of the Luxembourg office. Sebastien is taking his new assignments with immediate effect and will soon unveil his new strategy - decided in consultation with Koen Nevens, Northern Region Leader, and with the team already on site.
Sebastien Bequet has almost 14 years of experience with Cushman & Wakefield.
Koen Nevens, head of the "Northern Europe" cluster for the real estate group, says "Sebastien Bequet has all the skills and qualities to accompany our teams to achieve the ambitious and exciting project we have set for Luxembourg. He has repeatedly demonstrated his abilities within the group and it is with great enthusiasm that he can now concentrate on developing our activities in this high-potential country.".
In his new role, Sebastien Bequet is in charge of the supervision of the various service lines of the Luxembourg office. He is also responsible for the growth and prosperity of these various service lines and for defining the new strategic lines of Cushman & Wakefield Luxembourg in order to better respond to the increased demand from customers in terms of volume of requests and diversity in services.
Sebastien holds a Bachelor's Degree in Commercial and Consular Sciences from the ICHEC Brussels Management School, supplemented by various training courses in business development. He began his career at Cushman & Wakefield in 2003. After two years of brokerage he was deployed to GE as Portfolio Manager for Northern Europe. From 2008 onwards, he developed the Corporate Real Estate department for Belgium and Luxembourg, as well as for large multinational companies such as Microsoft, Sony or LVMH, as well as financial sector players such as BNY Mellon or BlackRock, lawyers including Allen & Overy, DLA Piper or Dechert.
In January 2011 he was appointed Partner and joined the Partner's Committee. From 2012 onwards, he became responsible for launching the activity of Leasing and Sale (Agency) for the Luxembourg office.
He comments: "This project goes beyond a man, it is a team project. Surrounded by a motivated and talented team, I am delighted with the new responsibilities entrusted to me and looking forward to working on our new strategy. The excellent market knowledge of our teammates, combined with my experience with international players and my knowledge of our group, make me very confident in the future and the success of this new adventure."
The Luxembourg team currently has 15 colleagues, but is expected to grow rapidly in the near future.
