On Friday 14 June Cushman & Wakefield Scotland will be hosting its fourth Rob Worboys Challenge in honour of colleague Rob, who died at the age of just 27 in 2016. This client participation sportif takes place on the beautiful island of Arran with either a full cycle of 56 miles around the island or half cycle of 28 miles, followed by all participants climbing Goatfell at 874m.
This year we have client teams from Aberdeen Standard Investments, ACCA, RBS, Pinsent Masons, Dentons, Santander, Corran Properties, Buccleuch and Royal Mail and many more, all ready to accept the challenge. We have partnered with the Scottish Association of Mental Health (SAMH) as our charity this year and donations can be made here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RobWorboysArranChallenge2019.
Rob’s father, Ian Worboys has decided to publish the five books written for Rob and his siblings when they were young. The books, called the Crush Series follow the adventures of hungry animals looking for their next lunch. In a comic sequence of events nobody gets eaten and they all survive to live another day. At a more complex level the stories tell parents and their children that there is always something positive that comes out after a sad event and that humour helps everyone throughout difficult times. A percentage of the books sales (available at the event) will go to the Robbie Bobby Foundation set up by the family which aims to ensure support for young people creating opportunities for their personal and sports development. In keeping with previous years, the competition for the Arran Worboys Challenge Quaich is likely to be strong, Stuart Dorward (Head of C&W Scotland) said:
“We are delighted to host the fourth Rob Worboys Challenge on the island of Arran, wishing our clients and colleagues the very best of luck on the day. Training regimes are going ‘reasonably’ well and anticipate a lot of rivalry and banter between our competing teams. Aberdeen Standard Investments won the Rob Worboys Quaich last year and look determined to defend their title! It is a privilege once again to be joined by members of Robs family, by participating and supporting the event in his honour.”
